Today marks five years since George Floyd’s life was taken an event that shook not only Minneapolis but the world. His death forced a long-overdue reckoning with injustice, and sparked a movement rooted in the belief that every human being deserves dignity, safety, and respect.

I remember those days vividly. The pain and unrest that followed in South Minneapolis felt like a collective heartbreak. In the North Loop, we held our breath and many boarding up windows, preparing for the unknown, unsure if the destruction would move in our direction.
